ABOUT THE DEITY
Shri Banke Bihari Ji is the form of Krishna worshipped with the deepest love and longing. “Banke” means bent in three places — the divine Tribhanga posture of pure, overflowing affection. His darshan is so powerful that the temple curtain is drawn every few minutes, lest a devotee be overwhelmed by His gaze. He is the deity of love, relationships, and the fulfilment of every sincere wish of the heart. On Rang Panchami, Thakur Ji is offered sacred Indradhanush Gulal — a rainbow-coloured gulal offered only once a year — and it is believed that those whose naam-gotra is chanted in this puja receive His personal blessing of prem and Sarvokamana Purti.
